I've been baking for most of my life. My earliest memories are of my mother and me in the family kitchen, where mom taught me everything that she learned through necessity and a generation that was so different from today's fast-food living. Coming from an Italian family, food was more about the experience of sharing love for family and friends.....and the aromas of delicious meals filled the house daily. Everything was homemade, and mom's desserts were always given such attention to detail, but more than that: the love and patience that went into everything she prepared was apparent in appearance and taste. The aluminum cake dome that concealed her wonderful cakes is still in my own kitchen. Oh, the delicious memories! I'll be sharing recipes, memories, links to interesting sites, and perhaps just un-related rantings that might peak (whipped cream humor) my fancy for the day. Welcome.
I'm a cheese-a-holic if truth be told. I could eat my way through a Brie, tunnel into a Gorgonzola, and get lost in a Smoked Gouda. And after I leave the Cheese-a-holics' Anonymous meeting, you'll find me in the Shoe-A-Holics front row. I'm also fascinated and mesmerized by dragonflies. I love my family....my friends.....my beautiful Goldens, entertaining and dining out. I have been described as "an enigma wrapped in a cannolli." I believe that the description fits me well. And, as former co-owner and baker for a small dessert cafe' I was able to fulfill a dream and share my love of delicious, homemade desserts with my wonderful customers.
I've also written two cookbooks, "Standing Ovations" and "Bill of Fare," and have been a contributing food writer in "The ABC's of Food."
